Storing Your Emergency Radio

Remove the batteries: This is the most critical step. Standard batteries are prone to leaking and corroding the internal metal contacts during long-term storage; even rechargeable batteries should be removed and stored separately.
Clean the unit: Wipe away surface dust with a clean, soft, dry cloth, and prevent dirt or grime from getting into the buttons and ports.

Keep it dry and ventilated: Store the radio in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated spot, away from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat sources. Moisture is the radio's greatest enemy, as it can easily cause circuit damage and component rust.
Moisture protection: In humid regions (such as southern areas), wrap the unit tightly in plastic cling film to seal out air, or place it in a sealed moisture-proof box with a few packets of desiccant.
Dust-proof storage: If possible, place the radio in a soft cloth sleeve or its original packaging before putting it into a storage bin; this effectively protects it from dust and scratches.
