When strong sunlight or artificial light strikes the solar panel, the photovoltaic effect occurs on its surface, generating electrical energy to power the circuit. A magnetic antenna and a variable capacitor form a tuning circuit; adjusting the variable capacitor alters the resonant frequency to select specific radio signals. The core of the circuit utilizes a dedicated integrated circuit (such as the YS414) to perform multi-stage high-frequency amplification and signal detection on the received radio signals. The audio signal output by the integrated circuit passes through a volume control potentiometer before being fed into a transistor-based low-frequency amplifier stage for power amplification, ultimately driving the earphones to produce sound. A bias resistor at the circuit's input stage enables the integrated circuit to provide automatic gain control.
